What is it?
Ketamine is a drug that is legally produced and used as an anaesthetic
by surgeons and vets. Legal Ketamine is pure and is normally produced
for injecting, but illegally produced Ketamine is usually impure.
How is it used?
Ketamine can be injected or produced as a grainy white powder
for snorting or swallowed in tablet form.
What are the effects
- If it is injected, the effects begin in about 30 seconds, but
if swallowed, it takes about 20 mins.
- Ketamine can cause hallucinations and lasts up to 3 hours.
- The mind creates a new reality and gives you an ‘out of body’
experience.
- You can feel like your mind is separate from your body.
- Your senses, e.g. seeing, hearing and pain become distorted.
- You don’t feel pain.
What are the risks
- You can have flash backs, and it can affect your vision.
- You can suffer memory loss and lack of concentration.
- You can become psychologically dependent, and it may cause
psychosis.
- As you don’t feel pain, you can injure yourself and not know
it.
- It very dangerous when mixed with other drugs and alcohol.
- You may vomit and lose movement, which can cause you to choke
on your own vomit.
- It can cause panic attacks and depression.
- Your speech can become blurred, and your vision is affected.
Injecting
If you are injecting, there is a greater risk of overdosing and
injecting brings on many other problems, e.g. vein damage, ulcers
and gangrene. If you use dirty needles, you are at risk from HIV

Staying Safe
- Don't inject.
- Use only small amounts as this is a very potent substance and
the difference between a pleasant experience and a horrible experience
is very small.
- Do not use on your own.
- Be aware of your personal space and your body will feel numb
and accidents can easily occur.
